I bought this item almost a year ago, and ever since then it's been outside turned on 24 hours a day. Never had a problem.

Right out of the package a yard-long segment of the lights flickered and went out as the coil was straightened, obviously a bad connection internally.
But almost worse, the product emitted a foul odor. It smells like the product was dipped in paint thinner or gasoline. A real stinker. Probably would not matter if it were used outdoors, out of the question for indoors.
Fit and finish such as the cord attachment was worse than the previous cheap rope lighting I bought before. The threaded fitting slipped and could not be tightened. I was attracted by the low price and hoped these products were pretty much the same. I guess I need to shop higher on the rope-light food chain.

We purchased this rope lighting to use above our cabinets to provide a nice glow. It's perfect.
I'm planning to by more to use in the theater area of our basement. It will be nice, ambient lighting, just like at a real theater!
